This past February I had the good fortune to be invited to a four day week-end quilting retreat. It was my first. I had heard about these things . . . but I was not prepared for the amount of fun that would take place.

If you get a chance to go to one of these . . . don't miss it! Or better yet invite some friends and have your own! It's easy to organize. We rented a log cabin in the woods with a big finished basement and tables for 12 sewers. You could ask at your local quilt shops to see if they know of any facilites where other quilters have held retreats.

No kids, no dogs, no distractions. We each made only one meal with a partner, (brunch and dinner) the rest was fun and sewing. We each worked on what ever we wanted to. Some finished up UFO's. Some sewed fast, some sewed slow . . . I was able to piece an entire quilt top!
